Aashna Avachat
Student Attorney (2025)

Aashna Avachat is a law student and student attorney with the Institute to End Mass Incarceration. She is a 3L from California and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. At Harvard Law School, Aashna has participated in Harvard Defenders, Harvard’s Capital Punishment Clinic, and Harvard’s Child Advocacy Clinic. She is also a Youth Advocacy Fellow and has worked for the ACLU Capital Punishment Project, the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, The Legal Aid Society, and the Federal Defender for the Western District of Oklahoma. She is passionate about ending systems of incarceration and imagining and working towards a world where all people can fulfill their basic needs. Outside of law school, Aashna is an author and a publishing assistant at a literary agency. Her books, Love Craves Cardamom, Mischief Girls, and How to Fake a Love Story in 15 Days come out in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
