Cecily Burge
Student Attorney
Cecily Burge is a law student and future public defender who joined the Institute to End Mass Incarceration in Spring 2026. In school, she is on the Board of Harvard Defenders. Cecily worked in the Family Defense Practice at Brooklyn Defender Services in 2025, and will return to work in their Criminal Defense Practice in 2026.
Prior to law school, Cecily spent three years as a Post-Conviction Litigation Paralegal at the Innocence Project, where she worked towards the exonerations of innocent people behind bars. Before that, she was a Fellow at the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice, where she helped launch the organization’s Prison Visitation Program.
