Apoorva Dixit
Student Attorney (2023)
Apoorva Dixit was born in Bhopal, India, and raised in Memphis, TN. After graduating from Dartmouth College as an Anthropology major, she spent a year back in Bhopal on a Fulbright scholarship, researching the collective memory of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Apoorva then released a 7-part podcast she co-created called They Knew Which Way to Run and gave a TEDx Talk, both based on her Fulbright research. The podcast was nominated for The Podcast Academy’s Ambies Award, and the TEDx Talk was selected as an Editor’s Pick by TED National for its 39+ million subscribers.
At Harvard Law School, Apoorva is interested in storytelling advocacy, criminal legal reform, and movement lawyering. She is part of leadership for Harvard Defenders, where she is organizing a symposium featuring incarcerated and formerly incarcerated artists, and she is an extern for Just City Memphis, where she supports a grassroots coalition implementing bail reform.
